Dear all,

I shutdown my server in the DeltaV database administration today for some reason.Now when i tried to reconnect to the server it gave me an error that it can't connect with the deltav server on the Engineering Work Station. In the services , the deltav services were started . Now to remedy the problem i restarted my server machine but the deltav could not start the start up services. Later on when i plugged out all the network out of the switches and turned on the server , the services started and it ran fine but i can't do it all the time.The system is currently in an engineering facility and later on it will be shipped to the site. I need a solution to this issue that is permanent , and i don't want to plug in and out my whole network , everytime this issue comes up.

Thanks alot Andre for the information , facts and guidelines. I tried to work with ur solution but it seems that i am stuck with the step one.

I decommissioned both of the controllers and tried to commission only the one with the fault on a seperate two wide carrier with a variable PS.

The controller couldn't communicate with the database. The node showed in commsioned nodes  in my explorere but with a cross.

When i opened the diagnostics, the controller still gave me two fluctuating primary node IP addresses, I don't know why it couldn't pick up

the primary node IP i.e 10.4.x.y . It still showed me a fluctuating IP between 10.4.x.y and 10.5.x.y.

It looks like i have to to send this one for maintenance to Emerson.

Now for redundancy , there is an extra application that comes up with the DeltaV application suite that checks the redundancy of the controllers and generate

reports for the diagnostics.Would that be of any help in this case?. I might give it a try.

What do you mean "changing IP address"?  Which IP address did you change and how did you change it?  DeltaV assigns IP's to most nodes it maintains, so changing IP address manually can have adverse affects.

 

What state is your system in?  1. Controller has no configuration (yellow triangle) 2. Controller has configuration but requires a download (blue triangle).

Hi,

If you have access, look at CTS NA-0800-0067. I faced a similar issue and this solved it.

Basically it can happen that an OPC client is connecting to the DeltaV OPC server while the machine is starting up. If the OPC service starts up before the DeltaV service, the DeltaV service will not start.

Dear Youssef,

As you mentioned that module's with dynamic references embedded in phases causing problems because the module execution would start before references were bound,  but this problem is observed only in a particular phase. Not all the phases cause the PLM watchdog Failure.

Whether Controller Memory fragmentation has any impact on watchdog failure ?

I am getting the following error on one of our graphics: "(Module name): The item definition does not exist within the servers address space." I am getting it for a set of modules(6) all tied to the same class.

The modules are assigned to a controller and are downloaded. The functionality of the dynamos tied to these modules works just fine but I get this error for each module when the graphic or faceplates are pulled. They open normally after skipping errors and function properly. Any idea what else may be causing this error?

Thank you for the reply. I have seen parameter not configured errors for what you described but this one was saying the module itself did not exist in the servers address space. I checked through parameters and did not see any errors. Interestingly enough, I simply rebuilt the dynamo and the faceplate using all the exact same parameters and dragged them back on to the graphic and now the error is gone. Who knows. We are cleaning up a system that was very poorly implemented and this is far from the strangest thing I have encountered.
